Lady in the blue dress is one of 4 short dance films about the 4 elements.

Earth Air Fire Water

Although primarily representing Air, this film shows the combination of all elements.

Dancing with the wind captured by the parasol, while the Caribbean ocean moves in the distance, the sun ignites the fire in the heart of the lady in the blue dress, dancer Guylene Lamour soars like a blue bird in the sky.

Yemaya represents the Goddess of the sea in West African, Haitian, and Cuban tradition. Water that is so strong and so soft, praising her strength and beauty...Dressed in white to represent pureness & new beginnings. Elegua, the God of crossroads and opportunities.

Dressed in black to show the power, the balance and the yin & yang of the sea.

The White Path - SacBe

Afro Pre-Hispanic Dance created by Guylene

This is a creation of a new dance.

A fusion of African & Pre-hispanic movements, dancing towards

SacBe- the White Path- Camino Blanco. In Mayan SacBe means the union of God & the universe.

Represented by connecting elevated paths between Mayan temples made with grounded white rock, these were paths used in sacred rituals to praise the Gods & Goddesses.

In Pre-hispanic dance one represents an animal. In SacBe Guylene is a bird and in the end releases herself to the heavens. Her dress made with all natural materials, reflecting Pre-hispanic traditions and beliefs embodying the elements, all the things that the Gods are made up of.

This was filmed in sacred Mayan land in the Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico at 12 noon.

Vodou is a beautiful sacred connection between human & spirit. It is a Haitian tradition & religion.

Vodou-is an African word meaning

spirit and often has a

negative mis-representation.

It is truly an active meditation of the body and the mind. Filled with prayer, and joyful praise.

Each of the movements represent the experience of the African people in history and fate in God, Goddess & Universe.

Dance is to celebrate!

To heal!

To ward off negative energy and to honor ancestors !

This dance is the Nago dance, the dance of power; Body thrusting foward, breast, arms and head held up high represents breaking through barriers of slavery.

Derived from Ibo- Nigerian dance.

This dance is to give thanks for all blessings in life.
